Yaku - Come Try Ishiyaki!

include several “details” most of us can agree on: that we will smell of grease after eatin; or that the food might not be suitable for all diners (children and Muslim friends, for instance). Not at Yaku, though! Yaku, located in Pavilion Bukit Jalil is the first Ishiyaki Wagyu Grill in Malaysia, and it’s a pork-and-alcohol-free Japanese restaurant that located in Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Ishiyaki, literally “stone grill dish”, is the perfect way to experience aroma, sights, taste and feel of yakiniku.

Yaku exclusively uses quality beef imported from Japan, as well as locally sourced Australian Beef, guaranteed to delight your taste buds. We tried their combo meal set which comes with a sauce, a side dish, Japanese rice and miso soup. The meat is already pre-cooked and comes served on the grill, so what you have to do is just enjoy the fun of the stone grill experience. No need to worry if your meat is undercooked, as the staff would be all too happy to help you out. If you’re not a fan of beef, Yaku’s menu also has chicken and seafood dishes too. Whichever kind meat you prefer, there’s something that would be perfect for you.

There’s a total of 6 options in the combo meal set, but we’d like to highlight the Premium Beef Set and Ribeye Steak Set. The beef patty is made of pre-cooked Wagyu beef, and they suggested we let it continue cooking on the plate for around 2 minutes per side. The beef patty is very juicy and succulent, and a more than perfect complement with the white rice. The portions of the meal were comfortably adequate; you will not feel too stuffed after finishing your meal. Those with a bigger appetite for more meat can add on a second piece for only RM9.90. Don’t forget to dip it in the provided sauce to elevate the taste of your meat to another level! Up to 3 out of 10 different sauces, all made by Yaku’s in-house chef are available options.

For steak lovers the Ribeye Steak is a must-try. Experience the unique Ishiyaki stone grill experience in a meal made for one! While the relative lack of smoke might make it seem that your meat might be undercooked, just trust your instincts, pick up the meat, dip it in sauce, and take a bite. Your taste buds will not be disappointed!

Last but not least, don’t forget to try out Yaku’s side dishes and ala carte menu. Besides the side dish that comes with the combo meal set, you can try out a variety of other goodies such as their Enoki Tempura, Age Chicken Gyoza and Tori Karaage. These come in larger portions that you can share with your family and friends. Any kids you bring with you won’t be missing out either, thanks to Yaku’s Kid’s Meal menu.

Yaku is definitely worth giving a try, whether you’re a yakiniku novice, or a seasoned veteran. It’s also a great place to enjoy good food, be it alone or with a crowd. And about the smell of grease we talked about at the beginning of the review? Yaku’s diners can rest easy, as each table is equipped with a high-quality ventilation system.
