Traditional Colors of Japan

–an exhibition by a Master Dyer Sachio Yoshioka (Working title)


T he Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur will proudly present a textile exhibition by an award winning master dyer, Mr. Sachio Yoshioka at Natural History Museum from 13th December. Sachio Yoshioka Born in Kyoto in 1946. After graduating from Waseda University, he founded Art Books Shikosha Publishing Co., Ltd. In 1988, he became the fi fth-generation head of Studio Yoshioka. In addition to creating dyed Japanese paper materials for ceremonies at temples and shrines, Yoshioka is dedicated to reviving traditional Japanese jfkl2colors through organic dyes. His expertise has been applied extensively, such as in the restoration of national treasures. He received the Kan Kikuchi Award in 2010, and Japan B r o a d c a s t i n g Corporation (NHK) Cultural Award in 2011. In conjunction with the Exhibition, Film Screening “MURASAKI: A Man Fascinated by Color” and a Special Talk session by Mr. Yoshioka will be held as below;
